To support the SEA Games event runs well in Jakarta and Palembang on November 11-25, 2011, traffic arrangement in Jakarta will undergo several changes. One of them is the motor vehicle restriction on roads crossed by Sea Games contingent.

“This regulation can help smooth the athlete’s trip from their hotel to the arena and vice versa. It also needed to prevent congested traffic during the event," stated Udar Pristono, Head of Jakarta Department for Transportation, Saturday (5/14).

He added that the mechanism detail for this special regulation is on discussion by Ditlantas Polda Metro Jaya and City Dishub. Some temporary proposed mechanisms are the traffic limitation, road closing and diverting, use of sticker for vehicle passes on certain roads, road filtration for public transport or private vehicle, and the implementation of odds and even police number vehicle.

Meanwhile, Jakarta Head of Sports and Youth (Disorda) Ratiyono stated they are looking for hotels near the arena location for the athletes, which ranged only minutes. Those hotels will be a three or four star hotel.

For example is the arena in Ancol where there are three sport branches of BMX bikes, sailing, and bowling. The athletes will stay at the Mercure Hotel which located also in Ancol. So is for the judo sport where the athletes will stay at the Harris Kelapa Gading Hotel.

"For sport arenas in Sentul, Bekasi and Karawang, we will look for good quality hotel around the area which also near to the arena," he asserted.This arrangement is not the first to be conducted by Jakarta Transportation Department (Ditlantas) and Jakarta City Police (Polda Metro Jaya). During the ASEAN Summit May 5-9 ago they have successfully applied the operational hour restriction for heavy transports on city tolls.
