BeritaJakarta.com: "Fire incident occurs in Redtop Hotel on Jl. Raya Pecenongan, Gambir, Central Jakarta. The firefighters make sure it caused by electric short circuit which happened at the bar and lounge room at the hotel basement on Saturday (4/23) night. They managed to extinguish the fire on Sunday (4/24) morning at 1.55 am.

Martondang, Commander of Gambir Region Sector I, stated they sent 22 units of firetruck to the location. The units consist of 16 units from Central Jakarta, 5 units from operational department and 1 unit from West Jakarta.

Meanwhile, Erwin Boham, the hotel general manager, explained the fire came from the Selvet Bar and Lounge. Then, it quickly burned lots of plastic materials in the room. “That’s what made the fire spread and enlarged so fast,” he said.

The guests immediately ran out of the hotel looking for safer location. In fact, some foreign guests were seen leaving the hotel wearing pajamas only. Luckily no casualties reported, but the hotel loss hundreds of rupiah by this incident."
